Rich and boozy, spicy whisky and sweet vermouth come together for this seriously sippable cocktail. Originally created in the 1870's at the Manhattan Club, New York, for Lady Randolph Churchill, Winston's mum!
50ml bourbon or rye whisky
25ml sweet red vermouth
a few dashes Angostura bitters
1-2 cocktail cherries to garnish
Put the bourbon or whisky, vermouth and bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well.
Strain into a martini glass, a coupe (or Nick and Nora) glass and garnish with the cherries.
